Applications are invited for the post of part time Consultant in Haematology for 6 months at Whittington Health NHS Trust.

The appointee will be expected to help maintain the haematology department’s reputation as centres of excellence in service delivery, teaching, research and training.

Applicants must have the FRCPath (or equivalent specialist qualification) and hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in haematology, or be within three months of award of CCT, or equivalent, by date of interview.

Applicants must also be on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (UK) with a Licence to Practice, (or be eligible for full and specialist registration within six months of interview).

The job plan is anticipated to contain 6 Programmed Activities per week on average, to be carried out at Whittington Heath. The primary commitment will be supporting and developing the general haematology services but the post holder can also participate in the red cell clinic if they wish to do so (instead of one of the general haematology clinics).

The applicant will be responsible for running 2 general clinics to try to overcome the capacity issues which the service is currently experiencing. The applicant will be able to develop on their own specific interests which can be discussed with the department lead.

The applicant is expected to take part in management of patients with general haematological issues when they are ward attending.

The post-holder would be expected to take part both in the teaching of medical undergraduates and the supervision and training of junior doctors. There would be an expectation to attend clinical haematology governance meetings.
