Dundee, United Kingdom Positive Steps Full time

Positive Steps is a Non-Denominational Christian charity; working in Dundee since 1989 we support some of the most vulnerable people living in our community. We have a reputation for recognising local need and delivering innovative solutions. Through our community based support and education services we engage with individuals facing a range of challenges including substance use, homelessness, mental health problems, and offending behaviour. We strive to build trusting and consistent relationships in which individuals are supported to recognise and address their difficulties and make lasting positive changes to their lives.

Our Project Workers support people with a range of challenges and problems living in their communities. We work with people to agree and provide the support they need and want. Everyone we work with is treated as an individual.

As a Housing Support Project Worker you will interact with a caseload of Service Users, in their own homes, to work towards their independence by giving advice and guidance on how to increase self-esteem, maintain their tenancy and by facilitating access to other services. A practical knowledge of housing related support, homelessness, dependency issues, inter agency working and the benefits system would be an advantage. SVQ II/III Health and Social Care (Adult), or equivalent, is desirable although this is not essential as a comprehensive induction and a training package, which includes the necessary SVQs, is provided.

Successful applicants will also need to register with the SSSC so should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification acceptable by SSSC for registering as a "Support Worker in a Housing Support Service".
