**The Opportunity...**

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are revitalising the UK nuclear power industry by building two new nuclear reactors (European Pressurised Water Reactors - EPR). We are seeking a diverse team of dedicated, motivated and determined people for Reactor Operator roles, within the future Operations Department.

The selection process will consist of a telephone interview, a face-to-face interview and an assessment in the HPC Main Control Room simulator.

This is one of the final opportunities to join the excellent Reactor Operator training programmes and make a major contribution to the UK’s move to reduce carbon emissions.

**What you’ll be doing**

As a Reactor Operator, once HPC is operational, you will work in the Main Control Room as part of a 24/7 shift team and be responsible for the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear power plant.
- Classroom training
- Simulator training
- Self-study
- On-the-job training

Following completion of the training programme and during the commissioning phase of the project, responsibilities will include:

- Providing operational leadership and support to commissioning activities.
- Developing and implementing operational procedures and documentation.
- Developing and improving training needs for future Operations colleagues.

Once HPC is operational, other responsibilities will include:

- Providing operational leadership.
- Monitoring equipment and system performance closely to detect changes early.
- Controlling plant evolutions precisely.
- Operating the plant in accordance with procedures and with a conservative bias.
- Working well as part of a team and communicating effectively.
- Having a detailed knowledge and understanding of plant design, system and component interactions and applicable theoretical or engineering principles.
- Actively supporting the Work Planning organisation to ensure an operationally focused schedule.

**Who you are**

As a minimum, applicants will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent).
