**The Opportunity**:
The Prendergast and Dunn groups at the Roslin Institute are looking for a Bioinformatics research fellow to join our team to use AI and computational approaches to study the genetics of chicken phenotypes. Using various forms of omics and imaging data they will train machine learning models to predict important phenotypes and use these models to gain insights into how genetic variants impact livestock phenotypes. The researcher will benefit from being part of a wider group of bioinformaticians and will be provided with a range of relevant resources, from unique datasets to high performance computing infrastructure.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:
Essential skills:

- PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline (e.g. Bioinformatics, Computer science, Genetics/Genomics, Computational Biology or Data science).
- Experience programming in a high-level scripting language (R or Python).
- Experiencing with workflow languages e.g. Nextflow, Snakemake.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Experience of planning and executing research projects and complex integrative analysis of large datasets.

Desired skills:

- Machine learning experience in R or Python is desirable.
- Experience with running analyses in an HPC environment.
