Your day to day duties would involve:
- Working with the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour
- Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual need
- Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities
- Helping to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources
- To provide support for learners, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills
- Encourage learners to become independent
- To provide support for the children's welfare, and to support the inclusion of learners in all aspects of school life.
- Assist teachers in the support, training and mentoring of other learning support assistants.
Key Skills Required:
- Experience of working with social/emotional difficulties and/or challenging behaviour
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to adapt the support required to meet the needs of individual students to positively impact on progress in learning
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written including basic ICT skills
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
**Knowledge & Skills**:
QCF Diploma Level 3 (NVQ3) in teaching and learning or equivalent internal and external recognised qualification is desirable.
**Experience**:
At least 3 years’ experience in a related environment and have experience of supporting and supervising other staff
