A temporary position is available working at Mold Community Hospital as a Band 6 Sister.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills and be able to work on their own initiative but also as part of a team. You will be expected to support the management of a busy ward within the community hospital setting. In addition you will be required to Deputize for the Sister in her absence making decisions and leading a professional group of nurses and a multidisciplinary team.

You will need to be proactive and flexible in your approach supporting the needs of the service.

1. Responsible for providing clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the Ward Manager in her/his absence.
2. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidenced-based nursing care to ensure the provision of a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting the Ward Manager in driving forward the provision of quality care.
3. Contribute to the education, development and line management of other delegated staff members, qualified and unqualified.
4. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with other members of the multi disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients and their families with mínimal or no supervision.

This post is fixed term for 3 months due to - meet the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

1. Designated to take charge of the clinical area on a regular basis, and in the absence of the Ward Manager provide a visible and accessible resource to staff, patients and their families within the ward environment.
2. Lead by example.
3. In collaboration with the Ward Manager promote, develop and maintain a culture within the clinical area which challenges and questions practice and promote the quality of thinking amongst practitioners.
4. To work in partnership with the Ward Manager and Housekeeper in delivery of the wider infection control agenda e.g. Infection control data, assist with credits for cleaning audits.
5. Support the Ward Manager to deliver the transforming care initiative and work with the team to ensure that all identified areas for improvement are implemented, monitored and sustained.
6. Manage a caseload of patients without direct supervision and ensure patients care needs are met across a clinical area.
7. Assist the Ward Manager to achieve the best use of clinical resources, ensuring an efficient and effective throughput of patients through the ward from admission to discharge.
8. Promote the development of services, determining new ideas for improvement within the clinical area, and assist the Ward Manager to implement change.
