**Beaumond House**

**Role Purpose**

The purpose of the role is to assist with the sale, display and movement of furniture stock and implement systems for rotation of stock to maximise furniture sales and profits and to always promote the work of Beaumond House Hospice Care.

This role will also incorporate the development of an online sales presence using appropriate selling platforms for furniture and other items. This is a new aspect of our Retail offering, and the role will require knowledge of building a new online offering.

This will be done in a manner which reflects the ethos of Beaumond House Hospice Care and always promotes good public relations for the Hospice.

**Main Duties**

**To assist and support the Shop Manager with**:
**Legal Compliance & Security**
- To ensure that the shop premises comply with Health and Safety legislation for staff and customers
- To ensure that cash and valuable items are kept secure
- To ensure the shop is safe and secure during opening hours

**Business Management**
- To assist the manager to manage the shop in a profitable and business-like manner
- To maximize sales of donated furniture goods and price stock accordingly
- To build an online sales presence using appropriate selling platforms
- To maintain a high standard of visual merchandising in the windows and inside the shop
- To ensure stock is appropriate to the business i.e. meets Health and Safety requirements and is priced accordingly
- To maintain a rigorous process of stock rotation
- To coordinate collections and deliveries of furniture items
- To assist with the physical collection, delivery and movement of furniture stock within the shop
- To keep the sorting and storage areas clean and tidy and the stock in good order

**Staffing**
- To assist with training and supporting volunteers in their roles
- To assist in the communication of Beaumond House matters to volunteers and vice versa

**Administration**
- To keep all paperwork and online records as required
- To ensure Retail Gift Aid is administered and promoted effectively.

**General Duties**
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with Beaumond House colleagues
- Work to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and Trading Standards Authority
- Work within Beaumond House policies and procedures
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings
- Always behave in a professional manner, reflecting and maintaining Beaumond House values
- Promote fundraising activities, including events and raffles
- Be flexible within the broad remit of the post

**Skills, Experience and Attributes Required**
- Retail experience either charity or mainstream
- Considerable proven online sales experience
- A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to forge and maintain strong working relationships.
- The ability to support, enable and engage with an outstanding team of volunteers
- A proven track record of delivering outstanding customer service ideally within a retail environment.
- A creative and positive attitude with the ability to turn challenges into opportunities.
- A willingness to trial new ideas and initiatives
- Strong attention to detail, planning and organisational skills.
- A good understanding of pricing and marketing with the ability to make sound commercial decisions
- The ability to display a range of donated goods effectively to maximise retail income
- Ability to work under pressure in a physically demanding role.
- A willingness to work flexibly.
