Clinical Photographer

Brighton, United Kingdom 379 University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This is a brilliant opportunity for experienced Band 5 clinical photographers to join the bright and busy team at Brighton’s Clinical Media Centre (CMC). The role is engaged in a diverse range of both clinical and non-clinical photography and video across multiple Trust sites.

Orthodontic, teledermatology, cleft palate, and mole map imaging are just a few of the specialist services undertaken. Non-clinical and PR projects also vary, from covering vibrant community events such as Brighton Pride, to providing images to illustrate technical work for clinicians and clients.

Don’t miss this chance to bring your exceptional imaging skills, communication and compassion to our patients, staff and clients, and all on the beautiful Southeast coast with its great national park, seaside towns and buzzing Brighton city

There is no such thing as a typical day on the team You will collaborate to support a variety of clinical teams and respond to inpatient referrals, book and photograph standardised procedures including Orthodontic imaging, mole maps, cleft palate photography, and also work autonomously to run teledermatology clinics. Additionally non-clinical requests such as staff portraits, documentary and PR photography, and videography for teaching and patient resources will also require competent imaging, communication, and project management skills.

The role will require registration with the Academy of Healthcare Science, and knowledge of regulation and policies, and a sense of pride that embodies the high standards of the field of medical illustration. The fluctuating nature of healthcare means provision of services relies upon staff demonstrating effectiveness and empathy, and a degree of flexibility. Image processing and data handling are components of all CMC work and having competency in IT systems is key to achieving necessary accuracy in both. The diversity of work also requires time management and problem-solving skills.

Essential to the role is relevant clinical photography experience, a photography degree or equivalent qualification, and, to facilitate service provision on multiple sites, a full Drivers licence.
