Interim Minibus Driver We are looking to appoint a driver to transport children to and from school in our 9 seater people carrier for the final term of this academic year from Monday 15 April 2024. Applicants must have a full clean manual UK driving licence and should be reliable, with a commitment to the safety and welfare of our pupils at all times.

JOB DESCRIPTION Title:
Interim Minibus Driver Fixed Term: April 15th - 5th July 2024 (excludes 27 - 31st May 2024). 11-week fixed term. Hourly Rate: £15 per hour (including holiday pay).

£3,240 for the 11 weeks.

Responsible to: The School Business Manager Core Hours of Work: 6:45am - 8:45am (Mon-Fri) & 4:00pm - 6:00pm (Mon-Fri)

The post holder’s core hours of work are Monday - Friday but there may also be an opportunity to work additional hours on a casual basis during the school day or a Sunday as required by the Transport Manager, School Business Manager, Headmaster, or their appointed deputies.

Job summary: Drive minibus vehicles to transport pupils to and from school (core hours). Drive minibus vehicles to transport pupils to and from school trips (including occasional Sundays) and sporting fixtures (casual hours).

Driving duties:

- Pick up and drop off pupils as designated by the School Business Manager, in accordance with the published route and timetable.
- Maintain the daily register of pupils using the service. - Follow safety rules as pupils are boarding and exiting buses.
- Only leave pupils at designated drop-off points if parents or carers are on hand to take over responsibility OR the school has written authority from a parent for the driver to leave a pupil unattended at a designated drop-off point.
- Maintain order among pupils during trips, to ensure safety.
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. - Report any bus malfunctions or required repairs.
- Clean buses weekly
- Daily safety checks prior to use and completion of relevant paperwork to ensure the minibuses are fit-for-purpose and compliant with our Operator Licence requirements.
- Refuel buses as necessary.
- Liaise with the School Business Manager regarding additional driving duties as required to support the school curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
- To follow all school safeguarding procedures.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties required that are related to the job purpose and required by the Headmaster, School Business Manager and Transport Manager.

Marketing and external links: Build effective relationships and provide a courteous, friendly service to all school stakeholders (pupils, parents, staff etc)

PERSON SPECIFICATION Relevant Skills and/or Aptitudes Essential
- Must have a full clean manual UK driving licence.
- An aptitude for driving.
- Ability to communicate well with young people, parents, colleagues, and external agencies.
- Knowledge of relevant health & safety requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant security and emergency procedures.
- A good knowledge of the highway code.
- An awareness of the legal obligations for driving.
- Knowledge of routine preventative maintenance.
- Honesty and integrity
- Approachability
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good time management and organisation skills.
- Flexible over working hours according to the needs of the school Experience
- Experience of working as a driver.
- Experience as a member of a team Desirable
- A full clean D1 or D licence with no restrictions and current CPC.
- Previous experience of driving minibuses or passenger vehicles.
- First Aid at Work qualification Relevant Education/Training Desirable
- Any other relevant training for the post. Other Requirements
