Our arboricultural consultancy practice serves a wide range of clients in the north-west and north midlands of England, providing a diverse range of arboricultural and urban forestry services. We have a vacancy for an Arboricultural Consultant.

**Job title: Arboricultural Consultant**

The post holder will provide specialist tree advice on a wide range of issues including pre-planning tree surveys and reports, tree risk assessments, post-subsidence assessment, assessment of tree stability, woodland management and diagnosis of tree disease and ill-health.

**The skills and experience needed for the post are**:

- A qualification in arboriculture to a minimum of ‘National Qualifications Framework’ Level 5.
- At least three years post qualification experience in private consultancy delivering a range of arboricultural and urban forestry services
- Excellent communication and 'people skill
- The ability to always approach challenges with a positive attitude and work both on own initiative and as part of a team
- The ability to communicate and work closely with local authority tree officers, planners, architects, ecologists and other professionals
- Excellent IT skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad are essential
- Current driving licence

**Job Tasks**
- Assess trees and woodlands and provide written technical reports to clients for a range of purposes including:

- silvicultural and landscape management
- managing risks to people and property
- mortgage and subsidence assessments
- Produce technical drawings and plans using AutoCad and MapInfo
- Maintain clear records of all work tasks

**Hours and Environment**
The post hours are 40 per week and office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You will be based at our office in Macclesfield and will spend some of your time visiting client’s properties with occasional overnight stays away. You will also be required to attend training and continuing professional development events such as workshops, seminars and conferences from time to time.

**Holidays**

Holiday entitlement will be 28 days each year including public holidays.

**Salary**

The successful applicant will receive a salary of between £30,000 and £40,000. Salary is negotiable and dependent on ability and experience. We also offer a company contribution to a personal pension equivalent to 6% of salary, or membership of a company pension scheme equivalent to 5% of salary.
