**Job Title**:PALS Officer

**Shift/ Hours**:Monday
- Friday 8am-4pm (37.5 hours a week)

**About the Trust**

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust provide services to the local community to around 500,000 people, with the regional cancer centre supporting around 2 million people. They provide care to the community with an annual budget of around £350 million and more than 5,000 staff.

**What you’ll be responsible for**:

- Responsible for delivering a 'front of house' contact point to which patients, relatives and carers can raise concerns and questions and where possible resolving these concerns at the earliest opportunity or advising on the best way to seek resolution.
- Undertake ward and clinic visits should a patient/relative feel that their concerns have not been addressed by the staff, or that they feel that they cannot discuss the concerns with the staff involved in their care/treatment.
- You will need to show empathy and understanding to distressed patients and bereaved relatives.
- Receive enquiries from patients, their carers and families and negotiate immediate solutions or resolution of issues by being a visible and accessible presence on the Lister Hospital Site.**You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust**:
1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times

3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

**You’ll have the following skills/experience**:

- Excellent communication skills
- both verbal and written
- Microsoft office skills
- Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Previous admin experience
- Previous NHS experience
- This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2_
- years relevant experience._
