Poultry Assistant

Upper House Farm is looking for a full-time **Poultry Assistant **to join our team in Hereford. We are a small family run business that has been in business for over 30 years. We are looking for someone who is reliable, responsible, and has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. We take pride in our employees and their growth. The farm is located approximately 5 miles from Hereford City Centre and is a large modern poultry / broiler site operating 24 hours a day, 365 days per year under strict bio-security and animal health and welfare standards.

This post is ideally suited to someone currently working within the poultry industry or who has previous and or relevant experience

Daily duties will include:

- checking, culling and clearing any fallen stock on a daily basis
- ensuring all automated systems are correctly functioning e.g. drinkers/ feeders/ heaters and ventilation
- identifying faults in equipment or maintenance issues and assist in correction of same
- maintaining bio security standards across the farm
- maintaining shed and site standards of cleanliness and tidiness
- assisting at end of crop with clearing of sheds
- assisting the setting up for new crop cycle
- assisting with other on-farm work including strimming, spraying, cleaning, mowing
- **Prior experience of working with poultry or in an agricultural setting is essential**:

- **Good English speaking and comprehension skills**:

- **Full driving licence and access to own transport**:

- **Experience of using farm equipment**:

- **Have a good level of fitness and be prepared to work in a physically demanding role**:

- **Be a conscientious team player, able to follow set procedures of work and use own initiative**:

- **Be reliable and dependable**:

- **Prepared to undertake informal and formal training as required**

Poultry Passport/ First Aid/ Tele-handler/ Spraying

(Historical attainment/ achievements or certification in any of the above will also be looked upon favourably)

**Salary**: £23,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
