The Clinical Microbiology Department is offering a great opportunity for two Consultant Microbiologists to join the team. The UKAS 15189 accredited, state of the art laboratory is at Peterborough City Hospital, however, you will be required to provide services to all our acute and community hospital sites.

You will be part of the Infection Control Team in providing epidemiological and microbiological support to the Consultants in Communicable Disease Control and the Environmental Health Departments of several local authorities.

You will be guided and supported by a team of 2 Consultant Medical Microbiologists in post, 2 Locum Microbiologists. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team formed of consultants, laboratory manager, members of the pathology MGC, the infection control team, clinical and nursing staff, general practitioners and other Trust staff.

You should be a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists or have equivalent experience and training, as well as be fully registered with the General Medical Council. You must be on the GMC's Specialist Register prior to taking up the appointment. If you are a Specialist Registrar who has successfully completed all parts of their training leading to the FRCPath part 2, you must be listed in the specialist register within six months of the appointment committee.
