About us:
One of the largest inland sailing clubs in the UK with over 1500 members. A full
racing and training programme for the full range of boats from Optimists to 27 foot
Keelboats plus an extensive open meeting and external training programme.
Recognised as an RYA Training Centre and OnBoard Club.
The Club has its own in-house sailing school operating year round offering
commercial RYA courses and training for members and fleets. The sailing school
also provides ‘Club Pro’ support for member activities.
Facilities on site include a workshop, extensive club house with bar, catering,
accommodation facilities, training rooms and chandlery.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Senior/ Dinghy Instructor to join our team. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and guidance to students at various levels. You will be required to teach sailing at all levels, maintenance on school and club fleet are among some of your duty's.
This role will support the Sailing School Manager to deliver a range of high quality wind sports at Rutland Sailing at Rutland Sailing Club. As well as their general responsibilities, the post holder will have particular responsibility for overseeing the water sports delivery including ensuring the Sailing School operations are both safe and compliant with relevant Club policies and governing body requirements, also that water sports equipment is maintained to a high standard.
In addition, this role will deputies for the Sailing School Manager in their absence.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- To greet our members & guests in a warm and welcoming manner
- Running courses to RYA standard
- Making sure that all activities are delivered in a secure and fun way
- Making sure all Club/school facility & equipment are clean and in good order to be used
- Providing sailing tuition on a one-to-one basis and to groups of adults or children from 8 years upward
- carrying out regular cheeks on all kit from buoyancy aids and boats
- Maintaining high standards of personal sailing
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Stay updated with the latest educational trends and best practices
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications, attitude, behaviours, skills, and values:
- RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification is essential
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 or Higher (rya safety boat)
- First Aid Certificate
- DBS check will be required and arranged by the company
- Excellent customer service skills
- Team player with a can-do attitude and excellent communication skills
