Stonemason

Construct and repair stone structures such as walls, floors, and monuments
- Cut, shape, and polish stones using hand tools and power tools
- Lay out patterns or templates on stone surfaces for cutting or shaping
- Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto stone surfaces using trowels
- Set stone in place according to layout plans and blueprints
- Align and level stones using plumb lines, levels, or wedges
- Fill joints between stones with mortar or grout
- Clean excess mortar or grout from stone surfaces using brushes or water

- Proficient in masonry techniques and practices
- Ability to operate hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and trowels
- Knowledge of power tools used in stonemasonry work
- Familiarity with welding techniques for joining metal components to stone structures
- Understanding of carpentry principles for constructing wooden forms or frames
- Ability to work at heights and on rooftops when necessary
