An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Strategic Planning Swansea Bay University Health Board is progressing its plans to develop new models of care and ways of working in the context of the agreed Organisational Strategy, Clinical Services Plan(CSP)and its Integrated Medium Term Plan (IMTP).The Head of Strategic Planning provides strategic planning leadership to support the delivery of the Health Board’s operational plans in the context of the priorities and ambitions of the Health Board’s CSP. The role will have a specific focus on the Clinical Service Ambitions as follows:

- Population Health
- Planned Care
- Older People
- Unscheduled Care
- Maternity Children & Young People
- Mental Health & Learning Disabilities
- Cancer

The role will be responsible for providing senior project management for the development and implementation of the strategic aims and supporting the enabling objectives included within the IMTP in line with the organisational principles and values.

The post holder will lead the implementation and planning phase of the development of work programmes included within the Health Board’s Strategic Plans, including the development of necessary business cases and proposals. The post holder will work closely with the clinical leads and Service Group managers on each of its work programmes to ensure that plans are fit for purpose, and meet the needs of the Swansea Bay population. As Head of Strategic Planning it will be necessary to work with partners through the Western Glamorgan Partnership, and other strategic multi-agency partnerships to deliver improved and integrated services for our residents. You will be required to work with partners to develop, coordinate and deliver a range of projects to achieve improvements in health and social care, delivering against the Health Board’s responsibilities within its Strategic Plans. The role will report to the Assistant Director of Strategy with considerable freedom to act. As such, they will be expected to contribute to both Health Boards performance, and to influence across both Health Boards and partner organisations towards achievement and implementation of key objectives.
