There may be opportunities for additional bank hours in the nursery or the Holiday club from time to time.

**Job description**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the After School Club room leader position at Mes Bach - Little Acorns in the picturesque village of Comins Coch, on the outskirts of the seaside town of Aberystwyth. Mes Bach is looking for an experienced and qualified childcare and playwork professional with a vision and passion for childcare provision to join the team at Mes Bach. Mes Bach is a vibrant and friendly charity-run Childcare Setting, offering quality, affordable childcare for children aged 2-12 years. The Setting provides a pre-school nursery for children aged 2 to school age, an after-school club, and a holiday club. Mes Bach operates from a purpose-built facility within the luscious green grounds of Comins Coch School. The successful applicant will work as part of a team dedicated to delivering high-quality childcare and education to children of different ages on a daily basis.

**Purpose of Job**:
The leader will assume overall responsibility within the After School Club to promote high-quality provision for children and ensure safe and stimulating play for each individual child. The leader will be responsible for the supervision of staff and children in the After School Club.

Other requirements may be included in the Setting’s Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in line with Foundation Phase, Estyn or Flying Start on an ongoing basis.

**Main Duties**:
**Children**

1. Ensure the provision of a safe, stimulating environment in which children are able to learn and play through planned activities.

2. Plan, prepare and deliver activities which meet children’s individual developmental needs.

3. Follow guidelines and procedures for child protection and safeguarding as recommended by the Registering Authority.

4. Administer first aid as appropriate.

5. Ensure that the group’s equipment is set out before each session and cleared away after the children have left.

6. Implement procedures for children with additional needs.

7. Encourage child participation and raise awareness of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

8. Work in partnership with parents ensuring that they are kept fully involved and informed about their child’s activities, achievements and progress, and encourage parental involvement.

9. Remain up to date with developments in childcare and education policy and practice.

**Staff Supervision**

1. Manage, coordinate and supervise the assistants, volunteers and/or students - inform the line manager of any problems, disagreements and/or concerns and agree on action plans.

2. Take the role of the Person in Charge in the absence of the Manager/PIC

3. Carry out annual appraisals and regular one-to-one supervision of staff.

4. Be responsible for the coordination of team meetings.

5. Ensure all staff participate in the drawing up of daily, weekly, and monthly planning of activities and events taking into account the individual needs of the children and monitoring the effectiveness of the plans within the setting.

6. Encourage staff to review the quality of their practice and ensure staff review and evaluate all aspects of their work.

7. Liaise with parents, schools, and other agencies as appropriate.

8. Treat all children, parents, and staff/colleagues with respect and provide an example of good conduct that you would expect others to follow.

9. Carry out the induction of any new staff, which includes health and safety and child protection policies and procedures during their first week of employment in conjunction with the manager

10. Ensure the developmental needs of all staff are addressed and provided for regularly, including your personal development, with the help of the manager.

11. Ensure you and your staff adhere to all the settings, policies and procedures.

**Administration**

1. Carry out day-to-day administration, registers, record keeping, and collection of fees

2. Keep all administration up to date, including information that is required to meet CIW regulations.

3. Work with the staff to review and amend all policies and procedures annually in line with CIW regulatory requirements.

4. Maintain appropriate records, registers, and reports to meet legal and regulatory requirements.

5. Produce regular progress and self-evaluation reports.

6. Attend internal and external meetings as necessary to ensure the successful delivery and development of the service.

7. Support, organise and conduct various fundraising activities.

8. Maintain documentation in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
