**Role and Responsibilities**:
The estate is a 25 minute walk away from Theale Train Station or you can get off the bus at a bus stop in Deadman’s Lane which is almost opposite the Lodge gates leading into the estate. If you drive a car there is parking on site provided.

We manage 9 acres of gardens surrounding the main house and are responsible for maintaining other areas on the estate such as the Long drive and the village hall. There is a kitchen garden, formal ornamental gardens and a woodland, a stream area and a wild flower meadow.

The post-holder will report to the Head Gardener and support her and the team in developing and maintaining the gardens. This will entail weeding flower beds, pruning of shrubs, edging of beds as weekly tasks. Annual tasks such as planting of bulbs, annuals, perennials, shrubs and their subsequent care. Seasonal tasks will include leaf collecting and some hedge cutting. The post holder will need to work autonomously as well as part of a team. The post holder will be confident in the use of hedge trimmers, strimmers and pedestrian mowers.

A PA1 and PA6 certificate would be an advantage but not essential.

The work is physically demanding and a high standard of workmanship is required.

Hours are 7.30a.m. to 4.30p.m. Monday to Friday.

25 days holiday a year and Statutory Bank Holidays

**Salary**: £23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
