As a Contextual Safeguarding Advisor you will deliver contextual safeguarding approaches to children’s experiences of significant harm beyond their families across West Sussex.

This will include both criminal and safeguarding responses, and there is a focus on knife crime.

You will work closely with statutory partners to implement identified plans, and will be responsible for coordinating partnership responses in identified locations.

You will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the contextual safeguarding responses, reporting to strategic boards in respect of needs, progress and outcomes.

This will inform service improvements and future delivery plans. Engaging communities to raise awareness of contextual safeguarding and build resilience will be fundamental to this role.

You will need to be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including possible evening and weekend working.

**Experience and Skills** Key Skills**:

- Highly developed skills in partnership working and ability to work constructively with colleagues in other teams / agencies.
- Able to gain trust and respect, and work in partnership with victims, young people, parents, carers, colleagues and external agencies to deliver an effective service, and work creatively and sensitively in a problem-solving way.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation skills and ability to influence.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret data.
- Ability to work independently and organise and prioritise work appropriately and manage constant and conflicting demands.
- Ability to demonstrate a commitment to anti-discriminatory practices.

**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- Degree level qualification, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant field, for example, psychology, child/social care, youth work or criminology, and/or extensive experience of working within these fields with a good theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of the theory and principles contextual safeguarding.
- Experience of multi-agency working to address the needs and risks of adolescents and their families.

Training and development skills with the ability to successfully transfer bespoke knowledge to “up-skill” colleagues to enhance and maximise their capabilities.
- Experience of multi-agency working, and knowledge of knife crime issues, extrafamilial harm and contextual safeguarding.
- Experience of writing reports to a high standard and using data
