**Who are we looking for?**
To fulfil this exciting role you will have an excellent knowledge of garment construction, which you will have gained within a similar role, ideally within the outdoor or sportswear industries. You will have worked with Far East and European based suppliers on a regular basis, and have an educated understanding of product development challenges when dealing with a remote supplier. You will have good knowledge and awareness of apparel engineering and manufacturing process and best practice, and UK/European compliance standards and requirements.
**The Role**
The Garment Technologist is responsible for delivering premium apparel products on time and in line with agreed strategy for each product, ensuring maximised profit margins and adhering to Rohan brand and quality standards. You will act as primary liaison between Rohan and apparel and/or accessories suppliers to ensure that product key features and specifications are understood and executable. You will work closely with the design team to ensure that quality standards are upheld from concept throughout production. Working to exceed the brand and quality expectations of our Rohan customers is the key focus of your role
**Key Objectives**:
- Deliver products that reflect the Rohan brand values of protective, lightweight, packable, easy care, lightweight and versatile.
- Work with the Design team to ensure that all specifications of assigned products are appropriate in order to achieve the highest level of quality
- Ensure the functional and quality demands of Rohan products are met from the product briefs throughout production.
- Perform risk analysis at the handover stage to ensure any potential risks are identified and remedied or avoided at an early stage
- Propose changes and production perspectives to improve products and ensure successful commercialization of the product during manufacturing
- Alongside Design, ensure that products are fit for purpose and in line with current Rohan brand and quality expectations
- Ensure that all new products, techniques and/or material combination adhere to Rohan quality standards
- Monitor quality standards of product quality at suppliers during all stages of prototyping development
- Ensure products are safe and legally compliant with all appropriate legislation
- Act as the primary liaison between Rohan and the Suppliers to ensure that all related development and technical issues are understood and executable
- Review and sign off on samples for accuracy, quality and function prior to production ensuring that all products meet business expectations
- Review and analyse the cost breakdown of your assigned products during the prototyping process and recommend materials (fabrics, trims, prints and components) and constructions that will help improve margin
- Conduct warehouse inspection on delivered bulk production as and when needed
- Support Retail and Customer Services Teams on customers queries
