Procurement & Supply Chain Management Trainee

Aberdeen, United Kingdom APUC Full time

APUC (Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges), the Centre of Procurement Expertise for and jointly owned by the Scottish Higher and Further Education Sectors, is looking to recruit for their established Supply Chain Management Development Programme. APUC is headquartered in Stirling and has regional offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Programme aims to recruit and develop future management level supply chain / procurement professionals who have the potential to develop their careers within APUC and / or in client institutions.

APUC establishes collaborative framework agreements on behalf of the HE/FE sector and delivers best practice expertise and guidance to the sector. APUC is committed to training and developing procurement skills in the sector, ensuring our client institutions can achieve best value, compliant and responsible procurement.

We are therefore looking for a highly committed and driven individual to join us on our Supply Chain Management Trainee Programme. The successful Procurement & Supply Chain Management Trainee will work across several Higher and Further Educational institutions in Aberdeen so the post-holder is expected to travel between the campuses as required. There will also be some travel required to the Central Belt to the core APUC offices in Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh for training and development.

We have currently adopted a hybrid way of working so incumbents can expect to be based in the office environment for around 3 days per week - this may vary slightly depending on placement requirements. If incumbents are not able to work from home at all, we are able to offer office accommodation full-time. The role may require periods of frequent travel dependent on placements (travel expenses are funded by APUC depending on base location in line with APUC's travel policy).

Starting salaries will be £25,000 per annum rising incrementally (normally every 6 months) during the 18-month programme. Procurement is a rapidly developing career path, with procurement professionals' salaries now frequently exceeding those of peers in many traditional professional services. On completion of the 18-month programme, incumbents can expect to earn over £32,000 per annum as a Procurement/Supply Chain Manager in our sector.

The start date for the role is as soon as practically possible.
