We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team based in Hassocks

In this role you will support our Occupational Therapy department, being proactive in offering activities which will contribute to the daily engagement and recovery of our patients.

Your responsibilities:

- Working alongside occupational therapy staff in the delivery of the ward programme
- Running planned sessions independently or with other professionals.
- Enabling patients to address specific needs in relation to health and well-being, respecting their dignity, wishes and beliefs and involving them in decision making and goals.
- Identifying and assessing potential risks involved in manging safe practice for all activities within the hospital, outside of the ward and in the wider community.
- Carrying out individual sessions on/off the ward and in community settings as directed by the multi-disciplinary team
- Reporting back on agreed aspects of assessment, such as observations in groups and in individual sessions on patient’s physical, social and emotional well-being
- Maintaining up to date and accurate clinical records in accordance with professional and departmental standards
- Participating in induction and refresher training

What do we need from you?
- Proven or accredited skills in Art, Music, Drama or Education.
- Experience within a mental health or care environment is desirable.
- General education to GCSE level including Maths, English and IT
