**What does an External Training and Capacity Building Advisor do?**

Examples of training programs we’ve recently developed and delivered include:

- Teaching COVID-19 contract tracers how human memory works
- De-escalation training for bus operators
- Debiasing decision making training for senior government leaders
- Executive education programmes on behavioural insights
- Improving our external training offer, which will involve standardising our range of training materials and tailoring course material to different audiences and contexts in collaboration with our policy and methodological experts across the business.
- Growing our training offer. We aim to reach a larger audience with our training across our global offices and presence. You will support marketing and business development activities in numerous countries and regions.
- Strategic planning and coordination. You will support the Head of External Training and Capacity Building in the delivery of the business plan for growing our training offer. This will involve supporting bid writing, developing training marketing materials and co-ordinating training events.
- Delivering our training offer. You will work in collaboration with our in-house experts in our policy and research teams, all of whom are used to delivering training and will support the Head of External Training and Capacity Building in delivering some training programmes.

**What makes a great External Training and Capacity Building Advisor at BIT?**

**Essential**
- Demonstrable experience working in the Learning & Development field within a fast paced environment;
- Experience coordinating, organising and developing training content for a variety of audiences in an engaging manner. Our training is fun to attend and we need someone who can design excellent andragogy that makes learners want more.
- An interest in behavioural insights.
- An interest in the evidence-base for how adults learn and the ability to tailor content on that basis.
- The ability to work well with others, notably those with more expertise in a topic, to effectively balance the simplicity of messaging with accuracy of content.
- Excellent verbal and written communication coupled with excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time. This is a two person team, so you'll need to be willing to get stuck in and provide a range of support, including undertaking training coordination tasks.

**Desirable**
- A good understanding of behavioural science as a field, its core concepts, and current trends. Note, if you do not have this expertise you will be supported to develop a sufficient understanding in the job.
- An interest in other media outside of in-person training. We have a range of products, guides, and tools that are designed to help build capacity and may eventually be much more closely linked to the training function.
