**HEAD BARISTA**

Slice Of Cornwall is a modern & casual cafe/restaurant, in a relaxed location on the Helford, near Falmouth. With a proud and unique menu and approach to customer service. Open 7 days a week for brunch and lunch service, and evening service will resume seasonally.

**Your responsibilities**

The Head Barista is a key member of our cafe team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our coffee service and ensuring that every cup served meets our high standards of quality and consistency. You will be able to demonstrate established flair in latte art, excel in creating latte artwork every time, and be able to train the barista team in this aspect. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent customer service, and a deep passion for coffee. You will be required to run the barista station for the business to the ethos of the brand and to the GM’s wishes & standards.

Ad-Hoc FOH Team Member duties, as and when required.

**A summary of duties**

**Operations Support**
- To work closely with the GM & FOH Supervisors; to keep communication avenues open and therefore ensuring a successful day trade.
- To run the barista station for the business ensuring the best quality coffees for our customers
- To create consistently great latte art.
- Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions about our coffee menu and providing recommendations based on their preferences.

**Stock Management**
- Stock/inventory ordering for full drinks department (liaising with the GM & relevant managers to ensure ordering is carried out appropriately to suit needs and demand)
- To take on the responsibility of ordering coffee stock weekly via the coffee company’s ordering avenues (including stock for retail sales).
- To keep a good working relationship with our Coffee/Tea & drinks suppliers (where appropriate).

**Equipment Maintenance**
- To perform regular maintenance and cleaning of espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- To contact the coffee supplier for advice/maintenance/repairs/parts when required.
- **Menu Development**:

- Working directly alongside the Managing Director’s to come up with innovative ideas, drinks, and events to suit the brand and increase offering.
- To consider our soft drinks and alcohol offering and suggest ideas.
- To come up with product testing when available to suit customer lifestyle choices which may increase the profile of the brand.
- Suggest seasonal ideas.

**Team / Leadership**
- Lead by example and inspire a positive work environment, fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and a passion for excellence among the barista/bar team.
- To train your team of baristas to be able to make coffees for the brand, excel in latte art and set the standard.
- Train and mentor other baristas on coffee brewing techniques, equipment operation, and customer service best practices.

**H&S & Due Dilligence**
- Notifying relevant parties of any changes to ingredients that may alter the allergens in a product.
- Quality control at all points of production
- Ensure freshness and quality of coffee/tea supplies. On arrival and throughout.
- Keeping a safe and diligent barista station and storing all goods/sweets/food as appropriate
- To ensure Barista/Bar stock is correctly stored, rotated, day dotted, and front faced (FIFO routine).
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling standards, and sanitation procedures at all times.
- To always comply with licensing laws and enforce and filter this knowledge to FOH Team.
- To implement all our H&S policies & procedures
- To clean as you go, adhering to all due diligence.
- To ensure the wellbeing of all our staff by maintaining an organised, clean, and safe workplace.
- To have an understanding of allergens and allergy control - Attending any training as required.
- To manage the cleanliness standards in your department and carry out all cleaning tasks or delegate to other Barista staff.

**FOH TEAM MEMBER DUTIES**

**Job Overview**:
**Operations & Financial**
- To work to the General Manager’s standards
- To keep communication avenues open, professional, and positive with all staff within the company
- Using our POS & booking software, taking card payments (matching to table/bill), and handling cash as appropriate.

**Customer Service**
- To welcome and care for our customers, ensuring a successful service every time, and ensure repeat custom.
- Meeting & greeting customers.
- Serve customers in a friendly, relaxed & professional manner, and in-keeping with the brand values.
- To raise any service issues, concerns or complaints promptly and professionally to the Manager/Supervisor for their resolution.
- Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and strive to exceed customer expectations.
- To be positive & hands-on in your ap
