**Job summary**:
We are looking for a Payroll Officer (internally known as Payroll Clerk) to join our Finance Office at House of Lords. You will be responsible for assisting in administering the House of Lords payroll, working closely with the Payroll Supervisor and with the Human Resources and other Departments to ensure that salaries, allowances and other payments are correctly paid.

This is an opportunity to work on a hybrid basis where you may be able to work up to 2 days from home and 3 days onsite at Parliament This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous payroll experience and good IT skills. **Job description**:
**You’ll be accountable for**:

- Assisting with the processing of the monthly payroll for over 700 staff.
- Input and maintenance of computerised payroll system (Zellis Resourcelink).
- Preparing regular statutory returns and payments to HMRC and other 3rd parties.
- Liaising with statutory and other bodies.

**Person specification**:
**What we’re looking for**:

- Good IS/IT skills including knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office and a strong commitment to the use of IT.
- Previous payroll experience and knowledge of payroll software.
- A high level of administrative and organisational ability.
- The ability to work effectively and with flexibility as part of a small team within the Finance Department.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to discuss and clarify the issues around pay. This requires a high level of telephone, correspondence and personal contact skills.
- Tact, discretion and the ability to work quickly under pressure maintaining a high level of accuracy and detail.

**It would be even better if you had or if you’re willing to learn**
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
- The ability to master and develop new concepts quickly.
- A high level of initiative, in particular capacity to innovate.
- Experience of Resourcelink or iTrent payroll systems or similar.
