**Salary: £14,469 -£16,077 per annum (depending on experience) + benefits**

The position of Music Therapist is based within the Royal School Manchester (RSM) and will play an integral role in enriching the lives of our students and young people.

**The Ideal Music Therapist**

The successful Music Therapist will have a strong passion for music and be patient, empathetic and creative. You will be responsible for devising, implementing and monitoring Music therapy plans. As the Music Therapist you will have a strong knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of music therapy and strong understanding of the communication needs of people with complex disabilities, including deafness, MSI and autism. The Music Therapist will be proficient in playing a variety of musical instruments coupled with excellent singing abilities.

**Music Therapist Experience and Qualifications**
- A bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy that is recognised by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Registration with Health and Care Professions (HCPC).
- Training certificate in Elklan or ASC (desirable).
- Previous experience of working as a Music Therapist.
- Experience supporting children and/or young people with complex communication needs, including people who are non-verbal.
- Experience of teaching students coping skills and strategies to enable them to deal with challenging and traumatic experiences.

**Music Therapist Role Outline**

The successful Music Therapist will be an integral part of the school team and will work in partnership with the multidisciplinary Health Team. You will be responsible for providing in-depth assessment and intervention plans for young people with a variety of complex needs, including physical and learning difficulties, multi-sensory impairment, communication difficulties, autism, and challenging behaviour. The Music Therapist will also work closely with individuals, families, education staff, carers, communities, and outside agencies to undertake a comprehensive assessment of children and young people’s needs.
