**JOB TITLE: Administration Assistant**
**SALARY SCALE: Spinal Column Point 13 - 17 depending on experience**
**HOURS: 36.5 hours per week (Full-time)**
**RESPONSIBLE TO: The Deputy Town Clerk**
**The Town Council are looking for an ‘all-rounder’ who is flexible and enjoys a varied role. The person must be able to grasp the basics of all admin tasks within the office and be able to support where necessary. This is an exciting role for someone who thrives on ‘getting involved’. Any training required will be given.**
**Role**:
**1. General Administration**
**To be a member of the General Office admin team which performs the**
**following role**:
1.2 To provide cover for the Reception / Abingdon Information Centre when requested.
1.3 To provide reliable and confidential administrative support to the Town
Council and to assist the Town Council in meeting its legal deadlines.
1.4 To undertake such general administrative and office tasks as requested by the Line Manager.
1.5 To provide admin support to the existing administration staff when required to ease workload.
1.6 To assist with arranging meetings for Councillors and Officers as requested and on occasions be available to stand in for the Democratic Services
Officer taking minutes at meetings.
1.7 Assist in maintaining an effective filing system recording Council business in a recoverable format.
1.8 Provide admin support for other areas of the business as requested, such as the Outdoor Services Manager and his team.
1.9 To observe and implement all relevant hygiene, health and safety standards and rules.
1.10 To attend and participate in all relevant internal and external meetings and training in connection with the responsibilities of the post.
**Specific duties (but not limited to)**
1.11 To provide regular cover for the Reception / Information Centre on Fridays, and during periods of annual leave / sickness.
1.12 To assist with civic events
**2. General**
3.1 Whilst the primary function is to provide general office admin support the postholder shall also be required to be able to cover the other specific admin areas when post holders are on holiday or sick. Training in each role will be given.
3.2 To ensure that the Council’s vison, values, key objectives and agreed policies guide, govern and are integral to all actions, recommendations, and decisions in relation to the postholder’s responsibilities.
3.3 To adhere to all staffing policies and work rules as contained in the staff handbook.
3.4 To adhere to the Council’s Code of Practice relating to confidentiality.
3.5 To undertake training as requested by your line manager.
3.6 To attend and participate in all relevant internal and external meetings in connection with the post.
3.7 To undertake any other duties as required that are commensurate with the grade.

**ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE**
Secretarial/Admin Experience NVQ 2 or equivalent in Business
Administration or PA/Secretarial
Experience in Word Processing, Microsoft Office Packages.
PowerPoint.
Good telephone manner and Customer Service experience in dealing with the public. Qualification/experience.
The ability to organise and administer Experience in organising and events. administering events.
At least two years’ experience in a Experience of working within local similar role. government.
**Salary**: £24,498.00-£26,845.00 per year
