To act as a specialist midwifery practitioner and effectively deliver an expert, supportive, empathetic service for women and their families experiencing pregnancy loss within the care of the maternity
service. To be a resource for the women, families, and maternity staff, on the physical, psychological, and administrative aspects of bereavement care. To liaise and ensure that external agencies are
informed of pregnancy loss and that all the relevant administration is undertaken in a timely manner.

Band 7 Bereavement Midwife

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bereavement Midwife to join our team within our Maternity service. We are looking for an experienced, compassionate midwife who is dedicated to supporting families experiencing bereavement loss, as well as offering specialist bereavement support and training to the multidisciplinary team.

The Bereavement Midwife will provide clinical leadership within the maternity service and will play an integral part in service delivery and development. The Bereavement Midwife will assist in the development of guidelines and pathways of care in relation to stillbirths, late miscarriage, medical termination, and neonatal deaths. The postholder will hold responsibility for the collection of data for MBRRACE-UK: Mothers and Babies: Reducing Risk through Audits and Confidential Enquiries across the UK, and feedback recommendations from reports and relevant findings to key groups and implement service delivery changes as required,

The Bereavement Midwife will be responsible for coordinating reviews and implementing learning from the national standardised Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT).The postholder will lead and implement the core principles of the National Bereavement Care pathway.

We are looking for an experienced practicing registered midwife with excellent midwifery practice skills who will facilitate and provide individualised care to bereaved women and their families.
