Pricing Manager

This is a great opportunity to join the Commercial department, responsible for setting the pricing
and credit strategy to support a world renowned organisation growth plans in the Mid-Market customer segment
ensuring they deliver accurate and timely pricing and contract requests to the sales and operational teams.
Reporting into the Senior Pricing and Credit Manager the role requires self-motivated, dedicated
and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.
The role supports our business' growth ambition in the B2B space measured against the metrics
set out in our 10-year strategic plan by ensuring we provide accurate and timely product offers and
contract documentation to our sales colleagues delivering sustainable customer growth.
The role holder will be responsible for deliver improvements to our pricing processes and system
capability that will have tangible benefits for our business customers, including improving the
speed at which tenders are generated, automating manual processes, simplifying the contracting
process and developing more tailored offers by incorporating a wider set of customer information
when determining the price point.
YOUR PART IN THE TEAM
? Set the pricing and credit strategy to support our growth plans in the Mid-Market customer segment
? Manage a small team (c4 FTE), leveraging their skills and competencies, ensuring their wellbeing
and career development and providing training and support in delivering their objectives.
? Responsible for the day-to-day production of tenders ensuring they are maintained efficiently and
effectively.
? Prioritise workflow with your team and sales colleagues, assessing the complexity and urgency of
all energy contacts that come into the pricing desk, managing deals up to a contract value of £5
million in adherence to the pricing & credit policy, organising the processing of larger deals with the
wider commercial team.
? Responsible for improving the pricing, quotation and acceptance process including automating
current manual processes, removing blockers and simplifying processes all aiming for a smooth end
to end process with limited touchpoints.
? Work with the Senior Pricing and Credit Manager on other system changes taking end to end
responsibility for some system changes like automation of customer details, validation logic and
contract status updates etc, including setting clear business requirements, working with the
developers and being responsibility for testing and delivering change in a timely way to deliver a
more efficient quality service.
? Support Sales by managing the Business Pricing Inbox where sales requests for pricing are raised,
ensuring all service levels (SLAs) are met, with queries dealt with efficiently, accurately and
effectively.
? Establishing SLA reporting and audits to ensure the team provide a quality service to sales and
operations, allowing them to respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
? Maintain and update the pricing and credit policies and working instructions for the tasks related to
the Pricing Analysts, such as validating and approving contracts, reviewing cost stack calculations,
fixing data issues, appraising credit etc.
? Responsible for supporting on Pricing projects, like improving their API connections with industry to
process data more effectively which will require you to undertake data analysis, competitor analysis,
system requirements, for example you might undertake research into other competitor pricing
portals to help shape and support your recommendations.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HELP YOU MAKE THE BEST OF THE ROLE
? At least 5 years' experience in the energy industry, with direct experience within a financial or
commercial function, B2B retail pricing experience would be ideal.
? Proven experience in recommending, gaining approval and implementing changes to strategy
? Track record in implementing improvements to operational processes that add value, for example
reducing errors to remove needless costs, or automating a process to support sales tendering
performance etc.
? Able to demonstrate ability to organise and manage multiple tasks under pressure and to perform
well under pressure
? Numerate with excellent attention to detail.
? Values driven ethical manager, demonstrating the ability to create an environment that is respectful
and encourages learning and sharing to help enhance and grow the skills and abilities of the team.
? 2. 1 or higher in a numerical/ business discipline, or equivalent, essential.
? Technical capability in modelling and managing data in Excel/ SQL / VBA/Python to a good standard
essential.
? Analytical mindset, demonstrate ability to problem solve and create practical solutions to overcome
problems and mitigate risks.
? Good communication skills, written and oral, for example ensuring sales agents are kept informed of
any delays in turning around pricing requests, or outlining the rationale behind a decision not to
approve credit for a customer.
