**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:

- Maintain effective communication links with all areas within clinical

directorates.
- Represent nursing leadership and management at clinical directorate level

and Trust wide meetings.
- To lead or participate in professional and clinical committees or projects

both internally and external to the Trust.
- Work with the HON and team on workforce redesign and modernisation of

the nursing workforce, working closely with team leaders, clinical leads,

operational managers and service improvement teams across a diverse

range of services within the directorate.
- In conjunction with the HON ensure staffing frameworks are developed to

utilise the workforce resources effectively and demonstrated in a reduction

in the use of temporary staffing.
- Assist the Trust’s press officer in the formulation of press statements as

required.
- Ensure that all direct reports are up to date with the regular CEO briefing

and that regular team meetings are set up with the practise educators and

nurse specialists within the directorate.
- To ensure staff understand their role and contribution to patient safety in

relation to infection prevention and control and have knowledge and

competencies to ensure optimal care delivery by utilising staff appraisal,

objective setting, link nurses and champions to promote best practice and

monitor compliance.
- Meet with patients and their families as required, in order to resolve their

concerns.

10.Ensure staff respect peoples' dignity, involve and support patients in shared

decision making and obtaining consent before undertaking procedures.

11.Create an environment and culture in which infection prevention and control

is intrinsic to care delivery by setting and monitoring environmental

standards and take action to ensure compliance to cleaning audits.

Key Role; Managing Patient Care
- Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional

leadership for relevant clinical areas and demonstration of competent and

accountable clinical practice.
- Maintain a consistent, visible, high profile in clinical areas of responsibility,

ensuring accessibility for patients, family, carers and staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary clinical practice, explore new

ideas and introduce positive, evidence based change in line with local and

national initiatives, e.g. NICE Guidance.
- Work with colleagues and the site and bed management team to facilitate

effective, timely and safe discharge. To be proactive in escalating delays.
- Negotiate or adapt patient care to provide solutions to complex and unusual

problems, e.g. infection control outbreak and bed management.
- Ensure that patient care is sensitive to the needs of a diverse population.
- Lead on the monitoring of the delivery of key performance quality indicators.
- Establish links with other individuals and specialist organisations relevant to

service speciality, and access diverse sources of information, in order to

maximise exposure to a wide range of robust and reliable information.
- Actively support the infection control team in the development of the Trust’s

infection control initiatives, and environmental audits.

10.Act as an expert resource relevant to service speciality in response to

incidents, complaints and claims, reviewing trends and initiating practice

review.

11.Actively promote legislation and responsibilities under the Health & Safety at

Work Act. Be aware of and follow policies and procedures with regard to

patients, themselves, other members of staff, equipment and the general

public.

12.Act as an advisor to Trust committees e.g. clinical practice committee,

Infection Control committee when required.

13.Will be responsible for overseeing the input of accurate data relating to

clinical indicators for areas of responsibility. Will participate
