You will be the Counsellor/Psychological Therapist for ABL Health and support our Health Improvement and Weight Management Services across Oldham.

ABL Health aims to empower individuals and communities towards a healthier future by promoting health awareness. The Counsellor/Psychological Therapist integrates psychological theory with therapeutic techniques to help people overcome and deal with problematic life events and mental health issues. They engage people and their communities to help identify barriers whilst empowering them to overcome these.

This is a demanding job, but you will not be on your own. ABL’s highly experienced and friendly multi-disciplinary team of Health and Social Care professionals, Business Intelligence, Service Development, Governance, Finance and Business Development are there to support. Additionally, existing experienced delivery teams will work with you to drive the service forward.

This post will work under the line management of ABL’s Obesity and Families Lead. The role provides therapeutic interventions to adults of different ages accessing targeted weight management programmes.

**Some of the essential criteria for the role**:

- Professional counselling/psychotherapy qualifications and/or IAPT or similar e.g. Integrative Psychotherapy Masters, qualification in Person Centred, Integrative, Psychodynamic or Gestalt psychotherapy or CBT.
- Experience of facilitating psychological assessments and formulations.
- Able to work in a therapeutic way that responds to a client’s needs, including a knowledge of behaviour change approach.
- Registered or accredited member of a professional body (such as NCS, BABCP, BPS, BACP, UKCP)
- Knowledge of relevant psychotherapeutic concepts and behaviour change models.
- Good communication and facilitation skills
- Administration and skills relating to psychological assessments, psychometrics, and risk assessments.
- IT skills for administrative tasks and good time management
- Work flexibly and adapt to suit service need, including some evening and possible weekend work.
