Bridport Arts Centre delivers a year-round programme including theatre, music, dance, comedy performances and visual arts exhibitions, operating out of a converted Grade 2 listed Wesleyan Chapel in the heart of Bridport. We are committed to supporting the creativity that is abundant in Bridport, as well as bringing great arts and culture to the town. Alongside our year-round programme, we also run The Bridport Prize, an internationally renowned literary prize, and deliver the annual From Page to Screen film festival.

We are an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) and receive revenue funding from Dorset Council and Bridport Town Council. As a charity, our charitable activities are wide ranging and include all of our programming as well as a wide variety of fundraising activities.

Bridport Art Centre has recently appointed a new Executive Director, has refreshed the board of Trustees, and is putting in place exciting plans for the organisation’s future. With new leadership in place, now is an exciting time to join our small, dedicated team. The Custodian is an important role with responsible for essential key-holding duties, and for maintaining functioning spaces within Bridport Arts Centre

This post requires early starts and late finishes and needs to work variable hours/days depending on the programme of Bridport Arts Centre. The incumbent must have the physical capacity to move 118 metal runners and 110 metal seats, as well as other manual work.

Responsibilities include being the main keyholder for Bridport Arts Centre, responsible for opening the building, and closing after events in any space used during the day.

Being available for unlocks and locks as per rota, or at short notice i.e. staff holiday/sickness cover and to be first response for out of hours alarM/Fire alarm callout for the building.

Ensuring that the theatre seating configurations are correct, and all seat moves are done according to operational needs as set out as per rota. The rota will be set prior to each season of events, and specific move times will be agreed between you and the General Manager.
