Kitchen Assistant - Midshift

**Work hours**

Mon-Fri: 13:30 - 18:30

Additional hours as and when required, occasional holiday cover for nightshift.

Food safety and hygiene are the highest priorities for our company. The role of the Kitchen Assistant is to provide assistance to the chef in producing safe food and to ensure the kitchen is clean, hygienic and operational. To inform Head of Facilities / Quality Manager of any defects in equipment or of premises not meeting Health & Safety and/or Food Hygiene Regulations standards.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Preparing and cooking foodstuffs
- Serving of meals appropriately to staff
- Completing daily records at time of check (Canteen Hygiene Checklist, Fridge & Freezer Temperature Check, Food Temperature Check) - **to be given to the Quality Manager weekly/monthly where appropriate.**
- Prepare the dining area
- Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
- The kitchen must be manned at all times
- Washing and cleaning all food preparation equipment daily including the dishwasher, microwave, floor and other areas to the required standard
- Check supplies and storage of ingredients (ensuring all are labelled, within date and fully closed)
- Accountable for managing money
- Ensure a high level of health and safety, cleanliness and food hygiene and to ensure food safety practices are followed

**Essential criteria**:

- At least one years experience in a similar role
- Level 2 Food Safety certificate
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage own workload
- Own method of transport is desirable
