Associate director for the Manchester care group will report to and be accountable to the chief operating officer at Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust.

Working alongside the Associate director of nursing and quality and the Associate medical director they will lead the care group to deliver high quality, cost efficient mental health services for the Manchester population, Through working collaboratively with service users, their carers and our workforce, they will drive continuous improvement in services whilst ensuring quality and patient safety is central to all we do.
- Provide operational management, leadership and support to a designated portfolio of services on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer.
- Deliver financial stability, cost improvement plans and the longer term financial model in support of GMMH’s future.
- Ensure robust performance management of the services within the portfolio, meeting key national and local targets for both Health and Social Care.
- With the Chief Operating Officer, and Care Group Collaborative Leadership Team, ensure a coherent vision for services is developed, taking into account public policy, legislation, commissioning intentions and Trust objectives.
- Ensure the appropriate arrangements for clinical and service governance are established and maintained so that quality standards and outcomes are delivered for patients and their carers.
- Contribute at a senior level to the Trust’s corporate business planning cycles, as well as Trust/service priorities and aspirations.
- Undertake an active role in the Trust’s development, ensuring services can demonstrate continuous improvement in both quality for patients and cost efficiency.
- Deputise on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer as required

The Manchester Care Group Associate Director of Operations, Assocaite Medical Director and Associate Director of Nursing and Quality form the triumvirate leadership team for the defined Manchester Care Group and are jointly responsible for:
Setting Strategic Direction across the Manchester Care Groups - developing service strategies and plans for improvement that promote consistency in standards and outcomes across our footprint and support delivery of the organisational vision and strategy.

Delivery and Performance - ensuring accountability and governance in place within the Manchester Care Group and support delivery of the GMMH vision, strategic aims and objectives, values and statutory and regulatory requirements.

Leadership and Support - creating the right culture and environment for high performance. As a member of the GMMH leadership team, the post holder is responsible for ensuring services within the Manchester Care Group comply with CQC registration requirements, national and local performance targets, annual business plan priorities and internal governance processes, including risk, health and safety and emergency planning. In addition the Manchester Care Group, has responsibility for the ‘section 75’ partnership agreement with Manchester Local Authority.

Overall management and leadership to the Manchester Care Group and a designated portfolio of clinical and social care services ensuring they are clinically led, operationally partnered and academically informed.

The post holder is also jointly responsible for maximising the use of resources within the Manchester Care Group by leading on transformation priorities, service improvements, quality improvements and Adding Value programmes.

Working with the leadership teams within the other Manchester Care Groups, the post holder will ensure the Trust strategy for strengthening the service user and carer is embedded across the Manchester Care Group and that the voice of people with lived experience and their carers is at the centre of decision making.

They will be responsible for service development and will embed continuous quality improvement and learning across all services to ensure service users and carers experience the best possible care.
