Purchasing Assistant

This is an exciting role within a developing and growing business which has an unrivalled reputation globally as a leading designer and manufacturer of high speed automated machinery.
In this role you will be responsible for regular liaison with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure high service levels are maintained.
**To be successful in this role you will**:
- Work from BOM to source all items to be purchased from suppliers, obtaining quotations, price and delivery.
- Support the sales and stores functions by advising on delivery times, any stock issues, price queries and highlighting any delivery delays or problems at the earliest opportunity.
- Accurately enter all purchase details into computer system.
- Maintain supplier database and preferred suppliers list for specific product type.
- Maintain purchase orders from requisition, quotations through to complete purchase orders.
- Proactively progress purchase orders to ensure on time delivery.
- Ensure best price and delivery is achieved for all purchases, either for stock or project specific.
- Produce purchase order progress reports (MIS reports) to Project Engineers.
- Help deal with supplier’s queries on purchase orders.
- Help deal with incorrect deliveries, informing supplier and arranging returns if necessary.
- Maintain accurate price data on Operations.
- Meet and help establish purchasing relationships with suppliers.
**What you’ll bring to the role**:
- Ideally previous purchasing experience gained within an engineering environment
- Purchasing assistant or purchasing administration experience is preferred
- Experience gained within a commercial customer focused environment
- Experience of MS Office, Excel in particular and previous experience of business management systems is also preferred.
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work on your own initiative
- Highly organised with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
