The Day case theatres are to consist of 6 theatres with 3 being our new Ophthalmology theatres.

As with all theatre environments, each day will different as we have a variety of specialities, some of which are listed. General, Orthopaedic, Plastics, Vascular, ENT, Breast, Max-Fax, Ophthalmic, Neuro and Dental, both GA and local day case procedures.

We are currently recruiting x1 permanent full time position and x2 fixed term positions.

We are seeking scrub practitioners to join our team. Although previous experience Scrub is advantageous, anyone with a genuine interest in this area of practice will be considered and full training and support will be available to facilitate your development to becoming a skilled theatre practitioner.

- Develop and continually update clinical skills in line with Local and National standards and recommendations for practice.
- Demonstrate competent practice in the role of scrub practitioner adhering to policies and procedures and adapting to evidence based changes to practice.
- For qualified ODP’s there is an expectation that they maintain their skills in anaesthetic and recovery.
- Support and provide patient education and health promotion
- Act as a patient safety champion maintaining a safety focus
- Ensure compliance with the Trust safety agenda, actively promoting best practice
- Proactively engage with developments in practice and safety initiatives that promote safer surgery e.g. WHO Checklist, team brief.
- Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff and students.
