AMOT is a leading global manufacturer of control, safety and hazardous area solutions for engines, compressors, turbines and other rotating equipment in the oil and gas, marine, power generation and transport industries.
Based in Bury St. Edmunds, we are looking for an experienced Machinist to work within our Machine Shop. Reporting to the Machining Team Leader, you will be responsible for machining products in accordance with desired schedule, as per engineering drawing specifications, ensuring adherence to quality and tolerance requirements. Following necessary Standards such as ATEX, PED and other Standards as may be required.
**Essential Functions/Duties**:
- To produce high tolerance machined components, utilizing CNC Mills and Lathes as well as manual machines.
- Responsible for the set-up of machinery using established program fixtures and tooling.
- Responsible for first off inspection and quality of all work carried out.
- Support all other operational functions as required.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- At all times, work in accordance to all Company Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental standards. Conduct inspection of product to ensure obvious defects are identified and escalated as necessary.
- Champion 5S principles and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) and good housekeeping at all times.
- Proactively engage in supporting the Company’s Performance Management System in place, working towards the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support the training and development of work colleagues as may be required.
- Respond to change positively and productively.
- Work additional hours as may be required to ensure the requirements of the position are fulfilled
- Keep abreast of changes to Company Policies and Procedures, ensuring the same are adhered to and met.
**Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications**:
- Minimum of five years’ experience within a machining/workshop environment.
- Interpret engineering drawings both 1st and 3rd (Use, understand and integrate Metric and Imperial Measurements, Gauges and Tooling).
- Machining qualification covering engineering practices or equivalent experience, time served apprentice.
- Experienced working with cast materials (Bronze, Alloy, Iron, Stainless, Brass).
- Experience of working to close tolerances.
- Ability to use problem solving techniques to achieve timely resolution to complex problems.
- Experience of working with either CNC Mills or Lathes.
- Abrasive Wheels Certificate advantageous.
- Ability to prioritise and schedule workload.
- Punctual and reliable, with good communication skills.

**Working Conditions**:
The environmental conditions of this job include working near moving mechanical parts limited toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles with moderate noise levels.
**Physical Requirements**:
Good level of fitness is required.** **This position requires frequent standing, walking, with occasional stooping, kneeling, crouch, or crawl and reaching with hands and arms. You are required to talk or hear. There is often lifting of materials.
Average vision and hearing is sufficient. Close, distance and colour vision is required with the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
