**Senior Advisor (Survey and Drone Standards)**

**Your new role**

Here at National Highways, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join our Safety, Engineering and Standards (SES) division

We are transforming our asset management approach and delivering an improvement programme (Asset Management Transformation Programme - AMTP) over the current road period 2. The AMTP includes a dedicated area of work to improve the design and maintenance of our road network for sustained customer service.

To support this work, we are expanding our Maintenance & Operational team to develop, maintain and govern our drone and surveying and standards. Although specialising individually on the use of drones and surveying platforms, you will work closely with our maintenance and inspection leads to help the identification and development of opportunities for the use of appropriate surveying techniques in the operation and routine maintenance of our road network.

**What you’ll be leading on**

We require a senior advisor who will have a specific focus on:

- Developing and maintaining our _General requirements for geomatical surveys _(GG951), _Requirements for topographical surveys _(GS952) and _Drone operations _(GG 954) Standards.
- Be responsible for the technical assurance to ensure the survey and drone standards are embedded, providing leadership, advice, guidance and coaching to colleagues and supply chain, ensuring drone operations are safe for our workforce and customers.
- Providing strategic direction for our use of surveys, identifying opportunities for use of survey platforms and data capture techniques to solve issues or mitigate risks, as well as supporting full embedment of our drone flight management system.
- Developing business cases for new projects ensuring that such projects are consistent with National Highways strategic goals, quantifying resource requirements and identifying project interdependencies within and beyond the team.
- Working with internal and external bodies in the development of relevant survey and drone use cases to unlock benefits for the expanded and safe use of drones and appropriate surveying platforms.

**To be successful you’ll need**
- Proven experience of working in a drone or similar surveying related specialist area, including demonstratable knowledge of drone related regulations.
- Demonstratable knowledge of geomatic and topographic surveying and relevant methodologies.
- Proven experience of providing specialist advice, guidance, and coaching in a specific technical or expertise discipline.
- Evidence of managing internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to collaborate with others to set standards and implement best practices, whilst dealing constructively with setbacks.
- Desirable but not essential - to have experience of using drones and a General Visual Line of Sight Certificate qualification (GVC). The GVC is a remote pilot competency certificate, suitable for VLOS (Visual Line of Sight) operations.
