Cromer, United Kingdom North Norfolk District Council Full time

**About The Role**:
North Norfolk is a fantastic place to live, work and visit - covering over 360 sq miles of coastal and rural environment, with a population of over 100,000 people living in 120 distinct communities, our District is one of England’s top holiday destinations and a place where people positively choose to live.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for helping us to create a better, cleaner environment for North Norfolk and doing the right thing for our communities, businesses and the environment.

Our Environmental Services team are responsible for delivering a range of front facing services, including in some of Norfolk’s prime visitor destinations, covering waste collections, street cleaning and grounds maintenance.

**About You**:
Each day in Environmental Services is different - a new query, service issue or work request that you will help resolve. You will assist in monitoring and managing the work of our contractors and ensuring that our assets to deliver these services are well maintained and in good condition to help ensure that we can meet our statutory obligations and ambitious objectives.

Your customer service skills must be professional and helpful even in the face of demanding and testing situations, so you will need to be tactful, diplomatic and assertive with an ability to solve problems and make decisions using your experience.

You will not be afraid of routine tasks, yet also flexible, resourceful and full of initiative.

You will assist with providing information and advice to residents and community groups, with a view to increasing recycling and reducing waste to help us improve our recycling performance. You will have good literacy and numeracy skills and competent IT skills.

If you want to be part of an enthusiastic and forward thinking team, with a varied and challenging workload, we would like to hear from you.

Applications for part time hours would be considered.

**About Us**:
We're committed to promoting equality of opportunity for the people and communities of North Norfolk. We respect and value difference in our district and across our workforce, and we want everyone to feel included and able to play their part in making North Norfolk a great place to live, learn, work and visit.

Our coast and environment are really important to us. We are part of Coastal Partnership East, an organisation with responsibility for our coastline from Holkham to Felixstowe in Suffolk. We have a net zero strategy, and a team of people working to deliver these important initiatives.

As one of the largest employers in the district, we offer a number of benefits that are open to all employees. We have a really supportive culture of enabling our people to learn and grow through attending courses, e-learning, and their day to day job roles. Our office in Cromer is clean, modern and light with onsite lunchtime catering, and free onsite parking.

We have an active health and well-being group with a new strategy, mental health first aiders, employee assistant program, employee discounts portal, and salary sacrifice schemes (bikes, home electricals and EV car leasing).

We have a great forum for communication with regular updates from Directors and Chief Executive, employee voice through our Staff Focus Group, and great working relationship with Unison, our onsite recognised union.

Most people that work for North Norfolk District Council can enjoy a great work life balance, as part of our hybrid approach to work. If your role supports hybrid working, and we've shown you all that we need to for your job role, all we ask is that you have a stable and reliable internet connection.

In terms of the numbers, if you are new to the public sector, you’ll enjoy 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and when you’ve been with us for five years, this increases to 30 days (assuming the role is full time). We provide access to a great pension scheme, based on your local authority career average earnings.
