**Who we are**

Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK’s only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).

The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Stratford International.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client ‘HS1 Ltd’, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

**Brief Description**:
**The role**

We are looking for a Head of High Speed Operations to direct operations management of Network Rail (High Speed) to meet defined safety, performance and financial objectives, whilst balancing the interests of all stakeholders appropriately.

You will drive forward the implementation of improvements in operational performance through strategic and tactical changes to rules, training, competence processes and systems. You will also act as professional Head of Operations for Network Rail (High Speed).

**About the role (External)**:

- Degree qualification or equivalent relevant experience?
- Significant operational delivery experience in a safety critical industry?
- Previous experience and competence in operational management?
- Demonstrable in depth understanding of the railway industry and its operating needs and interfaces?
- Experience of and skilled in the leadership and development of people?
- Significant experience in managing customer needs and requirements and proven ability to balance stakeholder expectations and perceptions against the needs and capabilities of the business?
- Knowledge of financial systems and budgetary tools?
- Knowledge of health and safety management and compliance management processes?
- Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills?

Although it isn’t essential, it would be an added bonus if you are a member of the ‘Institution of Railway Operators’ and have a knowledge of coaching techniques. Also if you have experience in a policy influencing executive role, even better

**The important stuff**

The role will be based at St Pancras, however frequent travel to our other office and site locations along the High Speed line is expected.

We follow a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range:
£68,099 - £76,612 (+ inner London allowance of £3270 per annum).
