Principle Responsibilities Develop, deliver and evaluate professional development and education programmes Maintain a regular evidence based teaching contribution to validated courses/short courses/study days to ensure that attendees (from inside and outside the Trust) are educated and trained to meet the cancer care requirements of their patient population. Develop specialist courses, study days and workshops in response to identified needs from within CCC, Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Alliance and national initiatives Contribute to the assessment of theory and practice Responsible for ensuring that teaching/learning strategies are well informed and evidence based Communicate complicated clinical matters in the educational setting e.g. Promote students understanding of the relationship between theory and practice through education Develop and maintain effective relationships with clinicians, Higher Education Institutions, service users and students in order to promote partnerships between education and practice Ensure that quality learning experiences are available for students through the identification of appropriate placements, ensuring support for supervisors/assessors and monitoring/evaluating placement provision Responsible for marketing of courses, and the recruitment and selection of attendees Maintain own professional and academic development in promoting a culture of life-long learning Act as an education resource in promoting evidenced based practice and professional development Participate in national and international events related to cancer care. Provide highly specialised advice contributing to care and education of patients in the oncology setting.

Develop, promote and maintain a creative learning environment which is responsive to student and practice needs so that quality education is provided Exercise judgement in assessing complicated interpersonal events and in identifying a range of actions and solutions for these Engage in pedagogical/health care research and implement results to develop the learning and assessment process and the learning environment. Co-ordinate, prioritise and organise educational programmes to ensure that deadlines are met To liaise with other hospitals, higher education institutions, speakers/lecturers and make all necessary arrangements for the participation of such bodies so that planned teaching is implemented Supervisory and Managerial responsibilities Lead programmes with full accountability for planning and organising Develop, deliver and evaluate professional development and education programmes in accordance with validating institutions standards and Trust requirements, so that quality cancer education is provided Provide academic and pastoral support to students Support the Head of Clinical Education and Professional Development and other programme/module leaders in the department to manage the ongoing strategic development of programmes in the department Undertake regular educational audits to ensure quality of practice placements Contribute to ongoing planning of programmes annually which impact across the organisation/Trust. Responsible for the development and delivery of specific professional development and educational programmes Implement policies for own area and contribute to policy/service changes which impact upon CCC and the validating HEIs Contribute to the development of, and ensure the implementation of, relevant HEI policies/procedures so that the academic standards of validated courses are maintained and achieved. Manage, co-ordinate, organise and plan professional development and educational activity within the Clinical Education department
