The Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.**Overview of role**

- You will work in a professional environment next to junior and senior engineers and consultants. Initially you will be supporting a growing number of net zero projects. Within these projects, your role will be rewarding and varied, and responsibilities will typically include:
- Supporting the development of technical solutions and energy strategies to help the Buildings and Infrastructure sector meet governmental and local ‘net zero carbon’ targets;
- Carry out energy audits of a range of sites in the public and private sector, identifying opportunities for improvement and quantifying capital costs and savings, including opportunities for low to net zero heat and power solutions. (i.e. heat networks, localised renewable technologies and hydrogen futures)
- Developing energy reports for clients, clearly and concisely, summarising findings of energy audits and site visits. The role will have a focus on operational energy emissions reduction, but will require an understanding of ‘whole life’ carbon impacts of projects. Based on our team’s proposed pipeline of work, it is envisaged that the majority of site visits / energy audits will be within the London area.
- Understanding and communicating ‘net zero carbon’ policies to clients, in support of them setting their own ‘net zero carbon’ aspirations and developing action plans to meet defined outcomes.
- Interfacing net zero carbon advisory with wider buildings and infrastructure outcome needs, such as environmental parameters to achieve ‘healthy buildings’ and whole life cost effectiveness in operation.
Essential
- Background in MEP design and consultancy
- Building energy performance analysis, and energy auditing and reporting
- A range of report writing, and visual and verbal presentation techniques
- Ability to work in diverse multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness and ability to work on range of projects and scopes
- Desirable
- Whole life carbon modelling;
- Chartered or approaching chartered status with a relevant professional body;
- Awareness of the Technical Advisory market and services.
