Due to expansion of our Clinical Support Team at Hilltop medical centre, Oldbury, we want to recruit a new Medical Secretary.

The hours are 30 - 35 hours per week, worked over different days (Monday to Friday) and during our opening hours. Weekend working may be required.

We are a friendly, hardworking team who care about our patients and strive to offer the best service and care we can. We provide services to over 10,800 patients and are based in Oldbury. Our Clinical Support Team is an integral part of our Practice and the team's knowledge and efficiency is highly regarded.

Previous Experience is essential.

- experience of audio typing

The role is varied and busy and would suit an individual who has previous administrative experience and is able to prioritise and organise a busy workload, use their own initiative, communicate across all levels of the Practice, and has exceptional attention to detail. It is very important that you are a strong team player and have the flexibility to cover or alter your working days for staff absence.

Knowledge of working in a General Practice, Emis Clinical system and medical terminology is essential.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Secretarial Duties**

Processing referrals via ERS (Choose & Book) - outgoing and incoming messages

Typing letters/ top and tailing letters

Processing Docman letters and scanning incoming letters

Coding and actioning clinical letters

Liaising with hospitals, community services to find out wait times and progress of referrals

Having knowledge of local services to sign post patients to the right place of care is helpful.

Ensure telephone enquiries are dealt with in a courteous and timely manner

Maintain referrals database

Compile medical reports for insurance companies, solicitors, etc

Invoice 3rd parties for medical reports

Action tasks as required

Monitor progress of 2-week cancer referrals

Provide holiday/sickness cover for each other as required

Observe health and safety guidelines at all times

Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time
