Quarry Operative

**Position Summary**

To work as Quarry Operative in the extraction, crushing and conveying of chalk in the Steeple Morden quarry to the required standards of health and safety, productivity, efficiency, cost and timeliness.

**Major Responsibilities**

To work in the quarry extraction operation (driving and operating the following: dump trucks, front-end loader shovels; Poclaim back-acter, bull-dozer, blow-back tankers, fork-lift trucks, in-quarry screens, cars, vans, pick-ups) so as to maximise productivity, maintain quality, minimise cost and maintain health and safety.

To maintain (oiling/greasing/housekeeping) and operate the primary crushing plant and associated conveying / screening plant so as to maximise productivity, maintain quality, minimise cost and maintain health and safety.

To follow documentation and record-keeping procedures on the operation/ maintenance of the primary crushing plant and associated conveying, to the required standard of accuracy and detail.

To assist in general works and estates maintenance, quarry roads maintenance, tips maintenance (as directed by the Quarry Manager) to the required standards and procedures.

To support, as directed, the shift team in process / packing / maintenance / cleaning / housekeeping and other duties to ensure continuity of customer service during busy periods and periods of sickness and holiday absence.

To assist with the training and development of others.

Contract length: 12 months

**Experience**:

- telehandler: 1 year (preferred)
- Quarry: 5 years (preferred)
- Excavator: 5 years (preferred)
- conveyor belt operations: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

- telehandler license (preferred)
- driving license (preferred)
- CPCS (preferred)
