Harris Invictus Academy is a vibrant, happy and successful school at the heart of the community. We know that our young people have incredible strengths and talents which we nurture. The Academy has a roll of 1,000 students, including a thriving Sixth Form, and whilst we were only founded in 2014 we are rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted [and oversubscribed by parents].

We support students to achieve academically and to achieve excellent outcomes both at GCSE and at Sixth form.
**Main Areas of Responsibility**
There are three main responsibilities of this vital role:

- To safeguard the children and protect them from harm in all forms
- To lead on tracking the academic progress of children serve and support the teachers and ALG in provision of an outstanding and broad curriculum
- To act as a role model for tutors by demonstrating high quality pastoral care and academic monitoring of students, continuous professional development and professional presence in the Faculty Teams

You will have the following specific responsibilities:

- To support teachers and the Academy Leadership Group in taking a lead on initiatives to support the academic progress of students
- To support and develop a team of tutors focusing on high standards of social, personal and academic development
- To support members of staff who experience disruptive behaviour
- To monitor alongside the APs and VPs the quality of learning experienced by the year group
- To be accountable for student progress and development of allocated students
- To track student attendance for allocated year group and implement appropriate interventions
- To manage student movements to alternative Tutor Groups
- To be a First Aider
- To maximise the academic progress of students through ensuring the highest standards of behaviour for learning
- To oversee the welfare and progress of students in allocated year group.
- To use academy data systems to track underperformance and to initiate programmes and actions to turn this around
- To celebrate students’ successes as well as identifying students who need further support
- To lead on pastoral and welfare support for targeted students.
- To support with Academy trips and events that are taking place off site with groups of students.
- To track and monitor student behaviour and attainment and agree students that will have further support.
- To implement and monitor student-led plan of action for individual students.
- To target areas of concern within the students timetable and lives and when needed observe students in lessons and advise support
- To work with students, parents, carers and external agencies to meet the needs of individual students
- To ensure the highest standards of attendance and punctuality for allocated students
- To meet parents regarding matters such as student changing ‘sets’, behaviour management and interventions
- To assist in supervision of students on duty and detention rotas
- To collect students who have Late detentions or Principalship detentions
- To run Late detentions and sanctions for the Year group, including afternoon detentions
- To create improvement plans for students and nominate student leaders for individual year groups
- To monitor the effectiveness of any interventions and report to APs termly on student progress
- To liaise with key staff, including the SENCO and APs, on students’ achievement

**Qualifications & Experience**
We would like to hear from you if you have:

- GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above
- A level qualification(s) or equivalent
- Understanding of the importance of students achieving their full potential
- Working with a range of students with behaviour needs
- Good knowledge of working with parents/carers/external agencies and delivering intervention programmes to individual groups of students
- Commitment to raising student aspirations
- Be able to work in a flexible way
- Sensitivity to complex situations
- Energy and enthusiasm to improve the learnin
