The Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) is looking for a Modelling & Risk Specialist to work with the Project Controls, Project Management and Programme Delivery areas of AWE.

**Salary**: Starts at £40,050 and is negotiable (dependent on experience)

As a Modelling & Risk Specialist you will implement modelling best practice, undertake analyses, assurance, validation, and verification for a wide range of AWE projects and programmes.

Modelling & Risk Specialists are responsible for:

- Delivering an effective modelling and analysis service to meet business needs
- Advocate of modelling; its benefits, providing advice and enabling informed decision making
- Implements the fundamentals of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) practice, familiar with the full model lifecycle
- Able to understand, interpret and manipulate project schedules from Primavera or MS Project
- Able to understand, interpret and manipulate cost estimate, cost plan and financial data
- Using a range of quantitative modelling tools and techniques - e.g., monte-carlo analysis, discrete event simulation, optimization, programming for modelling & analysis
- Providing support to business cases and investment approvals - E.g., Options Analysis, Investment Appraisal, Schedule / Cost / deliverability Effectiveness modelling
- Develop and support key relationships with the Project Manager, Project Controls team, Engineering and other stakeholders as required
- Peer review, independent V&V, assurance and audit
- Develop and support continuous improvement and cost benchmarking activities
- Able to work autonomously, managing interfaces with the Head of Estimating and the business modelling team
- Assist the Head of Estimating where required with coaching, mentoring and functional development
- Demonstrating and maintaining the following key principals and behaviours:

We would like you to demonstrate some experience of the following:

- Experience of large projects, programmes, and working within a project controls environment, including stakeholder engagement at all levels
- Extensive working experience at a senior level using statistical methods, modelling or risk analysis
- Experience working within construction, engineering, or regulated environments **(MOD/Defence/Nuclear/Regulated)**:

- Good technical analysis skills, risk software experience and strong communication skills
- Ability to manage priorities and work to challenging timescales
- Good problem solving and decision-making skills
- Professional body membership IRM, ACostE or APM is highly desirable
