A leading Commercial Law firm is seeking an experienced Wills, Trusts and Estates Legal Assistant/ Legal Secretary to join their team. The role will initially be based in Chester for a period of training and will then be based full time in the Liverpool city centre office.

**The Role**:
The prime role of the Legal Assistant is to provide direct support to the Fee Earners within the Wills, Trusts and Estates tea. You will use a high degree of self-management and initiative. On occasion, you will be required to provide assistance to other Fee Earners within the Firm.

**Duties include -**
- Opening files and maintaining files
- Ensuring compliance with money laundering regulations;
- To assist the Fee Earner under supervision with the following:

- File creation; statement drafting and liaison with clients in respect of the same;
- Generation of suitable client care correspondence;
- Attendance on clients for routine instructions and signing;
- Attending meetings with Fee Earner and taking detailed meeting notes;
- Attend as a witness at nursing homes/hospitals etc. when required;
- Drafting basic wills, codicils, trust agreements and amendments;
- Preparing covering letters enclosing wills from a standard precedent;
- Drafting basic trusts using precedents;

Oyez software;
- Collect information and/or assets for preparation of inventory and tax returns;
- Order public records including birth, death and marriage certificates;
- Preparing letters to third party organisations in relation to probate and value assets;
- Retrieving and storing wills following the correct procedures on and off site;
- Preparing invoices under supervision;
- Proof reading documents;
- Assisting the Fee Earner to develop precedent documents and letters;
- Preparing correspondence and documents through audio typing, ensuring that such correspondence and documents are checked for errors

before passing to Fee Earner;
- Carrying out copy typing of documents, including the completion of forms originating from the firm's own precedent bank and adopting

those from Practical Law, Oyez and Lawtel to fit the firm style;
- Providing assistance on the telephone for basic enquiries
- Meeting clients in person when they are bringing in ID
- To see clients in person when they have documentation that they wish to leave for the Fee Earner;
- To complete photocopying an scanning of documents when required;
- Ensuring that all mail to be dispatched is given to the Fee Earner with all relevant enclosures;
- Administering filing in correct date order on a timely basis as agreed with relevant Fee Earner;
- To make appointments, arrange meetings, book meeting rooms and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her Fee Earner;
- Preparing meeting rooms for meetings and to clear the room at the end of the meeting;
- To provide support to other support staff members, provide cover for reception and at all times to work as a team player;

Previous Legal Secretary experience is essential.

Previous experience within a Private Client setting is essential.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word.

Excellent administration skills and attention to detail.

Well organised and able to meet deadlines.

Can work well individually and as part of a team.

**Salary and Benefits**:
Salary is in the region of 25,000 - 28,000 depending on experience, together with excellent benefits.

The role will initially be based in Chester before moving to Liverpool permanently after 3-6 months.
