The purpose of this role is to provide enhanced care to those patients with cognitive issues including both dementia and mental health.

The postholders will work alongside the ward teams in providing general hygiene care, social interaction and general nursing care and will work across all adult specialities including the Emergency Department.

Additional training will be provided on commencement of post in regards to the specialist needs of these patients.

These are new posts to further enhance the care delivery to the patients.

The team will be expected to build strong relationships with all the members of the MDT. They will work across all different areas therefore will be exposed to a variety of settings to enable them to develop and expand their skill base.

To provide one to one care or to a co-hort group of patients

Ideally the postholders will have had previous experience of providing general nursing care and/or a background in caring for people with cognition issues.

The postholders will need to be able to deal with challenging situations and have good communication skills As well as providing general nursing care they will be expected to assist the patients to meet their spiritual and emotional needs.
