The post holder will support the Ophthalmic Imaging and Outpatient teams for the provision and overall smooth running of our clinical services. This will involve data entry, eyesight testing, OCT scans and other Imaging. You will have responsibility for preparing our patients and undertaking their investigations, performing a range of basic imaging tests and procedures as well as providing the reports and baseline evaluations for review by other clinical staff.

After the necessary training and induction, you should be able to prioritise and plan your own workload and have the ability to work independently, as well as working closely with other members of the team.

As a key member of the team you may be required to attend peripheral clinics and hospital sites to deliver the required clinical care. Therefore, a willingness and capacity to travel to different working locations will be required, as well as the ability to provide services on days across the whole week, including evenings and weekends if required.

You will be required to communicate in an empathetic manner with patients, relatives and carers who may be emotionally distressed or who may have barriers to understanding, such as learning difficulties, language, hearing difficulties or visual impairment and to children and babies.

In summary you will be contributing to the provision of a high standard of ophthalmic and personal care ensuring the smooth running of our clinics.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- Following appropriate training and assessment you will be performing the following clinical care duties (this list is not exhaustive and will change with the service in line with developing competency frameworks): - Visual Acuity Testing
- Measuring IOP
- OCT imaging
- colour fundus photography
- Wide field imaging
- Autofluorescence Images
- OCT-Angiogram
- Corneal imaging such as Pentacam and MS-39
- Research support studies
- IT problem solving
- Additional imaging techniques as appropriate to individual development/ service requirement
- Have an understanding of the latest ophthalmic clinical care.
- Ensure patient’s quality of care and safety is maintained during their entire visit including escorting to & collecting from other departments within the hospital
- Assist patients with their mobility in order that tests and examinations can be carried out
- To undertake administrative and clerical duties, inputting data using computer systems and the hospital’s electronic patient record systems, working at all times within information governance confidentiality policies
- To take responsibility for the care, usage, maintenance and cleaning of equipment, and fault reporting procedures.
- Reporting incidents to senior staff and using the trust electronic reporting system
- To participate in department meetings as required and contribute to service innovation and development.
