We believe it is through our people that an excellent student experience will be delivered, and this will have a positive impact in our local community. Our visions and values ensure that we put our students first and value our staff as our greatest asset.

This newly created post of ALS tutor within the Additional Learning Support team (ALS) is a responsible role, which will make an important contribution to the ALS Team. We are looking for staff with experience and enthusiasm to work with learners with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. The ALS Tutor will provide 1:1 and small group teaching, learning and assessment of students with a learning difficulty, disability and/or medical needs that would have an Education, Health & Care Plan to enable them to meet their outcomes.

The Additional Learning Support department is an exceptional place to work, with staff working collaboratively to ensure the very best outcomes for all of our learners. The ALS team offer a range of support dependent on the level of need with vocational workshops, access to specialist staff as well as specialist equipment and software. At Croydon College, we want to make everyone’s learning experience a positive one. We welcome learners with learning difficulties, disabilities and medical conditions and support these learners to maximise their potential and achieve their learning goals.

The ALS Tutor will be responsible for delivering and coordinating the daily tutoring and planning for a small group of learners with a range of learning needs. To provide a quality of teaching and learning provision so that all learners make progress in line with the outcomes and recommendations of their learning plans and/or EHCPs. Liaison with the wider team with information, advice and guidance, as appropriate to assist the support staff who are assigned to work with them back in the classroom.

The ALS tutor, working with learners who need extra support, or require adaptive teaching in order to reach their full potential is very rewarding. A key aspect of working in this field is identifying individual needs and adapting to that particular learner as well as being responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Apart from our great location, our wonderful staff and positive culture, we also offer a range of other staff benefits, including generous annual leave and defined benefit pension schemes. We also value staff development and have 7 days a year planned for staff development, including elements of team development, socialisation and staff wellbeing.
